Welcome Members of GPA,

Join us this Saturday at 9am for hopefully, our LAST virtual GPA meeting.

Yes we hope that with the County of San Diego’s full opening on June 15 will mean that the Gillespie Field Terminal building will be available for our next meeting which will be August 7. We will not be meeting in July.

The agenda for the meeting is listed below. It will include our normal airport construction updates, a review of actions taken at the GFDC meeting in May, and a report on the Stearman fly-in at Allen Airways Flying Museum also in May. If you are aware of the recent FBO change at Montgomery Field, you will appreciate the activism GPA exhibits vis-à-vis keeping costs down for pilots at Gillespie. We will talk about what happens when there is no pilot input on the price the county charges for lease hold contracts and how the cost of flying can skyrocket as a result.

AIRCRAFT DISPLAY

The Classic Aircraft Display for June will continue to be “virtual” – in other words, this is the last month “regular” attendees of the Classic Display sign-off will receive benefit of COVID relief. You will get your sign-off for January through June when Phyllis Trombi holds actual in-person display sign-offs on July 3rd, when we will return to our regular aircraft display. We will not be meeting in July, but the Classic Display will go on as scheduled Saturday July 3. Masks will be required for anyone NOT vaccinated against COVID!

So join us for hopefully our LAST ZOOM meeting, our last virtual donuts, and our last pretend coffee. An email with Zoom meeting instructions will be sent out Friday afternoon. See you then!

ABOUT GPA

GPA's general membership meetings are typically held the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 a.m. in the Gillespie Field Administration Building, 1960 Joe Crosson Drive, El Cajon, CA 92020. Refreshments are provided, and meetings usually last about an hour (though hangar talk can go on indefinitely afterwards).

Our general meetings are a good place for you to get to know your fellow Gillespie pilots and to find out what's going on at your airport.
